FAQ's(Frequently Asked Questions)

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I do accept insurance, though I am only accepting PPO insurance at this time. You may want to call your insurance provider to find out what your mental health coverage allows. I will keep this website updated should I become an HMO provider for any insurance companies.

I want counseling but I'm not sure I can afford it, what are my options?

When insurance coverage is not possible, I can work on a sliding scale with my clients, depending on need. Though my full fee is $225, I may have openings for lower fees, down to $100. Ask me about your needs when we speak. Additionally, there are several low fee clinics in the area that I can refer you to if necessary.

How long should I expect to be in counseling?

We will work together to create a treatment plan and determine what feels best for you in reaching your goals. Some clients find it is helpful to use counseling as a sounding board for many aspects of their lives and continue to come to counseling after the initial issues have been resolved. Other clients prefer to come for just a few sessions and focus on a particular issue until they feel done. Part of our work together is determining what's best for you as we move forward. I will always welcome your questions and perspectives, and in most cases we will usually decide together what timeframe will help you the most with whatever you're experiencing.

What does the CHt. stand for?

The CHt. means that, in addition to my traditional psychotherapy licensure I have been certified in hypnotherapy and medical hypnotherapy, both tools that can be useful in individual and bodymind counseling. In particular, guided imagery and medical hypnotherapy can be useful in preparing clients for surgery or treatment. I am happy to answer your questions about these techniques and will only use them if we decide together that they are right for you.

When do you have appointments available?

I do my best to accommodate your schedule, and generally have openings both during the week, on Sundays and in the evening. In the event that we can't find a time to meet in person, I also offer phone sessions and teleclasses. Please call me to find out more.
